Let me tell you this place is a gem. We were out in the middle of nowhere. We put in a search for restaurant in Anamoose (population 230). We were traveling from Kentucky out west and we were on the way to Teddy Roosevelt National Park and just traveling through. We googled for something near me and The Anamoose Bakery and Cafe came up. It is a little hole in the wall place, (my favorite kind). We walked in and it smelled like your grandma’s house during a family reunion. The food was insanely good. All home made. Pork Chops and gravy, Broccoli casserole, Meatballs and gravy, creamed peas, mashed potato’s and gravy, toast points, a cheese sauce over them. Fried Chicken, Ribs, Rolls, Ice Cream for desert. It was a help yourself buffet set up, all you care for. I went back (which I rarely do these days) but it was too good to pass up. The proprietor asked if I wanted a sundae for desert and I declined and told her I had another meatball and some more broccoli casserole instead. I gave her 25 dollars for two of us and she said that is WAY too much! I made her keep it and it was worth every penny. It’s now 9:00 P.M. and I am still not hungry....
Great little place more than reasonable prices. Lady working was very pleasant.
This was absolutely the sweetest and most perfect place to grab some food while driving through. It is literally like having Sunday dinner - I grabbed ribs, chicken, Mac and cheese, and potroast. The owner is a gem. She was only going to charge me 4. I gave her 10! Everything was delicious!
Stopped in just before lunch and was surprised by the delicious aroma when we walked in! There was a nice buffet with ham, meatballs in gravy, bbqued ribs, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, creamed peas, rice and chicken w/veggies. All homemade food and everything was delicious! The locals were very friendly and learned a little of the area's history from them. Kudo's to the cook! We will definitely stop again when we go through that way.
Thanks Connie! The breakfast buffet was great and it was so fun visiting. Highly recommended.
Thank for the nice service that you provide to Truckers. Thank you for the beautiful atmosphere. God bless you and your business for years to come. All the way from Chester Pennsylvania.
I work on the railroad and recently took a mobile position in North Dakota that has me passing through many small towns. My coworker told me that I have to try the homemade breakfast sandwiches at Anamoose Cafe. He wasn’t lying. Connie is a sweet lady who makes you feel like you just came home and mom/grandma is making supper. She’s always busy making homemade soups, sandwiches, pasties and more. You can’t beat her fresh baked breads and sweets, and her prices are almost too low. Make sure to bring enough cash to place your order and leave her a well deserved tip.
My girlfriend and I were passing through when we found ourselves in need of something to eat. The options within the area were lacking and unfamiliar; then we found Anamoose Bakery/Cafe. We told the lovely lady at the counter that we were just looking for something light to eat and she went into the back to make something specific for us. This is a place that it'll keep in mind and even purposely stop in when passing through in the future.
